Answer
Just had one of the office machines do that.

We told our office crew to be careful on Java updates to not let McAfee install but they did.

Go get a Web Speccy report at https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web and see if you find McAfee and if so, remove it. Google "McAfee removal tool". It's a free tool so if anyone charges for it, search again.

This may or may not be the problem but without a report I have to share a recent failure and ask for more detail. A web Speccy report will let us know a lot more about the PC. Be sure to add make, model, age and if you know to keep up with the canned air cleaning.

Use msconfig/startup and untick everything.
Boot to normal mode.
Does it still freeze?
