PC fonts to Mac

Aug 3, 2005 5:02AM PDT

I just purchased a Mac Mini with OS X Tiger installed, and am going to migrate my files etc. using Move To Mac.

Can I just move my TrueType fonts as files and install them on the Mac, or is there some conversion I need to do? If conversion is necessary, what Mac-based software should I use?

I've Googled this and gotten conflicting info. If someone could outline the steps involved, I'd really appreciate it.

Very happy with my new Mac!

Thanks in advance.

Conversion

I have a feeling that you can put your PC TT fonts into the Fonts library of your Tiger machine and all will be well. the only Font conversion program that I now of, TTConvert, only runs in OS 9 as there is "no need for an OS X version"
Try it and see.

Put in Fonts folder then load them with Font Book program

Pretty easy as previous post said. Also use font book or other font program to load so your programs can use them.

SO easy.

I need to get out of "it's a PC and it's going to be hard" mode!

Opened Font Book. Selected all my PC fonts. The validator said that 10 of about 200 were corrupted, so wrote down their names and deleted them. Installed the rest, removed the duplicates with the dot after the name using the handy command.

Done.

Magic.

Thanks for the help and the reassurance!
