Question

PC Fan spins for 10 seconds then stops

So my fan spins for like 10 seconds and then stops, restarts than doesn't do anything. No post, no anything. I swapped the GPU, PSU, CPU and nothing. My friend gave this to me, he said it was working fine. Here's the hardware that I tried:

Motherboard: ASUS P5P43TD
CPUs: Intel E6750 2.66Ghz and Intel E8400 3.00Ghz
RAM: KINGMAX 2GB DDR3 1333MHz FLFE85F-C8KM9
GPUs: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD4670 Ultimate 512MB and Sapphire Radeon HD2600XT 512MB
PSUs: Codegen 400W and Chieftec GPS-700A8


It would be great if you could help me.

which fan?

I think the fan is unnecessary

For power up tests we don't need a GPU, or even RAM.

Yes and I also tried it without the CPU and it doesn't had the issue. But without the ram or gpu it's just doing what it did. That might be the CPU then but as I said I tried another CPU too.

Take the motherboard out onto cardboard and make the smallest of builds. Just the PSU, motherboard, CPU, one stick of RAM and no GPU yet. This should stay up and if not you are looking at the bad part or parts. You can try it without the RAM if it doesn't say up.

Be sure you have a good CMOS battery too. Some folk push back on that and we charge 75 bucks (min min charge) for a dollar battery install.
