PC Expansion Multi-User Network Computing Terminal

by irishman / February 9, 2005 5:51 AM PST

I am think on buying one of these to use at my house so as not to junk up a room with a bulky PC. I was wondering if I could set my computer (which is a wireless client on my network) to be the computer that this will run off of.
Does the computer have to be connected to my router or can the terminal connect to my computer through my wireless usb adaptor. If you need more info let me know.

Real multi user network computing terminal available now?
by Damadaha / December 22, 2010 1:24 PM PST

Is there a way for multi users share the hardware and software of a Desktop PC or even a laptop ? This is the idea of net terminal? This concept had been discussed more than 10 years ago, but we have not seen any "network terminal". We still spend our money in better CPU and Microsoft Windows and Office. Will the Android by Google really bring us the "Network Terminal"? I found a kind of "PC share system" or "Network PC share box", like this one http://www.haimei.com/china-computer-accessories/networking/ty320.html. I thought it's the the network terminal. After I read the description, I found it's actual a stand alone thin PC with embedded Windows CE OS. Through the Windows CE, user can connect to the "host PC" by using the Windows remote desktop feature. It's not a bad idea. According to the description, it really reduce a lot of investment for every user. Anyone use this kind of "network terminal"? Please share your experience.

Let me be blunt. It was junk then and still is. You'll see this and a few other old ideas come back to haunt users every few years.

I'm ready to discuss it again.
