Question

PC doesn't turn on until I swap RAM cards

May 11, 2020 11:47PM PDT

Hello. The title pretty much explains everything, it started about a month ago, I tried to turn my PC on, the lights went on, but there was no image on a monitor. I tried to pull a motherboard battery out (CMOS clear), and it helped, but every time I turned PC off (not sleep mode), I ran into same problem. Later I realized that swapping RAM cards also does the trick, so it's easier now, but still, is there a way to solve this problem once and for all? Thanks in advance. Sorry if my English is bad, I'm not a native speaker.

What do you mean by swapping RAM?

DO you just switch the RAM dim slots or do you usually use 2 sticks of RAM and then only use one? because if thats the case then one of your RAM sticks could be broken

2 sticks

I use 2 cards (sticks), and PC works after I swap them (rearrange one with another). I can't use only one, it's would be not enough memory

What is this PC?

I don't see make, model and such so as it stands it sounds like the following:
1. Old CMOS battery. At under 50 cents we replace and rarely test since testing adds far more than 50 cents to the repair bill.
2. Failing motherboard.
