Sorry to Have Kept You Hanging.....

In reply to: Belarc vs Baseline

I took a bad fall and the back injury has kept me bed ridden ( & loopy from painkillers)for several days..Ouch! Devil

I'm not expert at this but it strikes me that for once (LOL) MS maybe right.
You've kept you machine right up to date in a most commendable manner...
for this reason I wonder if those patches that are not confirmed are ones related to what you no longer have.

Putting SP2 onto your former SP1 basically removed the validity/need of SP1 patches as SP2 was basically a whole new operating system. You were starting fresh.

Would similar logic also apply to patches for OLDER & un-installed versions of IE 5.5/6.0 (now that you have IE7) & Windows Media Player(s) ??
I suspect the scans can't confirm about those items no longer needed/in use/able to activate.

I would welcome more knowledgeable opinions from others & hopefully my reply booting your post to top may attract some. Happy

Again my sincerest apologies for keeping you on pins & needles!

Hi! What you say is what I think and I thank you very much to confirm it, I'll live wit it because I'm well protected any way, once I had an attack of a virus on Wikipedia and PC-cillin toke car of it like a flash, it stop every thing went to there site came back and got rid of it.

If you have the chance to have a swimming pool you could just float in it so you would have less pressure on you back. Sorry about it!

The Bob (I'm french excuse my writing )

Take care and feel free to write to me any time and give me news about your back. Thank You!

Have you looked at your "history" at the Microsoft Windows Update?

I can understand you Happy

Let's first update your computer with the "rest" Secunia found.

THese issu I have them installed but Secunia gives me the fallowing results :
This installation of Sun Java JRE 1.6.x / 6.x is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats!

The detected version installed on your system is 6.0.10.6, however, the latest secure version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 6.0.20.0.

Update Instructions:
Update to 6.0 Update 2 or later.
http://www.java.com/en/

Download here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

You have to download this one: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2

.....
After you installed it - go to add\remove and UNINSTALL the older versions you still have.

........

he case of adobe is the same :
This installation of Adobe Flash Player 9.x is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats!

The detected version installed on your system is 9.0.16.0, however, the latest secure version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 9.0.47.0.

Update Instructions:
Update to version 9.0.47.0.
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash

NOTE: When updating Flash Player, older versions are not always automatically removed from your system. If older versions were detected that you believe should not be present, then please contact the vendor regarding how to remove them from your system.

.......

Reboot and run Secunia again - what are the results now?

In the meantime I'll keep looking for the darn KB "thingy" Wink

You are my friend Marianna :) :) :)

In reply to: Re: IE7-WindowsXP-KB931768

You know what? Microsoft tech. this morning came on my computer and found a corupt file so now IE7 works fine. He told wit conviction that wen Windows update tell me there is no update that there IS no update, so PC-cillin is giving fals reading for the update but PC-cillin tells me that there is vulnerabilitys in the patchs of Microsoft. Aren't they funny? They are playing ping-pong Happy

My Java is up to date and every thing else is to, but PC-cillin is still giving me this reading :

"Vulnerability Check Logs","2007/08/29",".........."

"Time","Related Bulletin","Risk Level","Provided By","Potential Incident"

"22:31","MS04-041","High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB885836 this one install but I don't see it in ths add/remove )

"22:31","MS06-014","Very High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB911562 this one install but I don't see it in ths add/remove )

"22:31","MS06-055","Very High","Windows Update","EXPL_EXECOD.A;HTML_VIMALOV.B;HTML_VMLFILL.B;HTML_VMLFILL.C" (KB925486 wen I download this patch it tells me it does not apply to my system ???)

"22:31","MS07-004","Very High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB929969 wen I download this patch it tells me it does not apply to my explorer ??? )

"22:31","MS07-009","Very High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB927779 this one install but I don't see it in ths add/remove )

So I don't know what to think any more Sad

Probably I'll buy a Mac next time, or if it's the same, I'll buy a TV I can't go wrong wit this option Happy

Marianna you are giving your self so much trouble that's why a say you're my friend.

If you have the power to ask PC-cillin on this matter I would be suprise about the answer.
Take care! From The Bob! Happy

Hi The Bob Happy

Can you SEE these ones in the HISTORY of Microsoft Windows Updates ?

"MS04-041","High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB885836 this one install but I don't see it in ths add/remove )

MS06-014","Very High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB911562 this one install but I don't see it in ths add/remove )

MS07-009","Very High","Windows Update","n/a"
( KB927779 this one install but I don't see it in ths add/remove )

You will find the "history" as you go to Microsoft Update.

Did you contact them?

Is a "pity" I am not a "Jeannie" - you know the one who wiggles with her nose - otherwise we would have solved your "problem" Silly

Instead of a Mac next time, why don't you try your luck with Linux Devil
