If the fire was contained to the PSU and didn't send high voltage to the other parts or the fire spread to any thing else you can get a new PSU. The down side ,, the only way tell is to put power to it. John
long story short, roomie's pc started puffing smoke out the power supply and it went downhill very quickly from there.
it's an e-machine, about 3yrs old. i saw online this isn't uncommon with those. (!?!) is there any kind of settlement fund to get some money back from? obviously the pc is outside its warranty.
what about salvaging parts? what are the chances that the MB, RAM, HD didn't take a hit when the power supply blew?
