Resolved Question

PC Boots perfectly but won't post to monitor

Jun 11, 2017 8:08AM PDT

I just recently RMAd my MOBO and PSU due to some bios issues and a fan problem. When I got them back two weeks later, I installed everything, and it seems to boot perfectly. Everything from the lights to the one beep looks good, but the monitor won't get a signal. I know it's not a monitor problem, and I don't have a monitor on hand...

The monitor is connected directly to the GPU via DisplayPort 1.4.

Any suggestions for a fix?

Specs:

MOBO: Gigabyte G1 z170x Gaming
GPU: MSI RX 480
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k
PSU: Corsair CX550M
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2
(W two Thermaltake Riing 120s)
HDD (Mass Storage and Games): WD Blue 1tb
SSD (Boot): Samsung 850 EVO 250gb

Monitor.
Can you connect this monitor to a different port on the gpu?
Can you connect this monitor direct to the mobo?

You need to get a working monitor to test on your machine or take your monitor to a working machine to test.

If that's not possible then plug the monitor into the mobo and remove the gpu and unplug the hdd and ssd.

I plugged my MacBook into the monitor and it worked just fine, but I'm going to try what you suggested first.

What now

I did what you said and I got a signal from the monitor. But it only has a command interface and told me to plug in a proper boot device. Should I plug in the ssd or hdd?

Your ssd contains the os so plug that in.
