Do you have a 360 or a PS3? They can act as media servers and wirelessly stream music/videos from your laptop to your TV if you have a wireless home network. There are also other media hub components out there for pretty cheap too.
I was wondering how I might be able to play music and movies from my laptop onto my TV without all the cables. I have an idea but was wondering if there was anything simpler.
Here's my best idea so far...
I've got an old desktop I don't use anymore. I could hook up the tower behind my entertainment stand (out of sight) and have all of the audio/video cables hard-wired to the TV.
Now, I would keep that tower on all of the time and connected to the internet.
Then, If I wanted to play a movie from my laptop, I would use Remote Desktop Connection to take over the desktop. I would be able to see the PCs screen on my laptop. From there I would paste my movie, and play it from the desktop tower. The movie would show up on the tv and I could even turn my laptop off while the movie is playing. Since movies take up so much space I could store them in the desktop instead of taking up space on my laptop.
SO....is this a good idea or too complicated?? I've never used Remote Desktop Connection so I don't know if it would be too much of a hassle to go through or not. Am I thinking too much?? Is there a simpler way of doing this?
Thanks for any advice.
