Jun 30, 2011 7:43AM PDT

Hey guys, my PC is getting a little old and I would like to upgrade to a much better one; one that will be able to run the latest games.

Sorry guys forgot to mention, the $3,500 will include a gaming mouse, keyboard and 3D glasses.

3D across 3 displays.

I smell trouble.

Couldn't find the edit button...

I tried but I couldn't find the edit button...

There has never been one to use.

Why is there no edit button?
Jun 30, 2011 8:08AM PDT

I did but I realized I forgot some details after I hit post. Sorry about that. Delete it if it's against the rules, I won't mind.

That has been discussed in the Forum Feedback forum.

The short version is that once you post, if you edit the post, hilarity can ensue.

Original "Do you like ice cream?"

Now edit it to "Will you send me 100$?"

It's pretty simple why no edit.

So why was I in trouble then...?
Jun 30, 2011 8:21AM PDT

Fair enough but then again if there is no edit button, why was I "in trouble" when I added some additional information to my post?

When you talked about 3D across 3 monitors.

Sounds like a great way to create a new interesting and expensive problem.

Be sure those that sell it will give your money back if it doesn't work.

What?
Jun 30, 2011 8:36AM PDT

Ok no offense but you are kind of confusing me. You have not given me any feedback on my configuration and how is your last reply in any way related to what I said?

Sorry I have to comment about the forum software.
Jun 30, 2011 8:44AM PDT

My comment about trouble is about 3 monitors in 3D. It's as simple as that. This forum software sometimes puts the reply here or there. I make no apologes for that as I have no control of that.

-> Again, you have a BIG PILE of expensive gear that will need an expert to get it all working. Your past experience installing Windows is helpful but this one will be much harder and I've commented about that and the lack of support.

If you want my thoughts, I would not bother with the 3D since I can't see it and I have good binocular vision. The reduction in clarity is not worth it.

James Cameron seems to agree at http://www.firstshowing.net/2011/cinemacon-james-cameron-demos-the-future-of-cinema-at-60-fps/

It's a shame to look at the crystal ball and see what may be a short run for 3D.

But the issues about bleedover and sync alone make me wonder if you'll ever get that to work.

Makes more sense

OK thanks for explaining

So you are not a newbie.
Jun 30, 2011 7:48AM PDT

I think your average third or later home PC maker would try this. The biggest problem I see for newbies is how to install the OS proper.

There are no step by steps, only guides and if you buy it piecemeal, no one seems to want to answer this question.

No, I am a newbie, really
Jun 30, 2011 7:55AM PDT

Well actually I am a newbie, but one that does his research first. I looked at videos, reviews, unboxings etc. to figure out what is actually out there and if this all would work with each other. And CNET seemed like the place to put the final touches on it.

I can explain that.

Most PCs come with either a Recovery DVD (or we make one) or an OS CD and a driver CD.

The list you have will not include this and won't include how to install and configure this.

This is usually where some get a trial by fire or get burned up mad at everyone in the industry (to which I partly agree.)
