At home we use the usual AVG and Zone Alarm firewall for the most part.
But my kid wanted to play an online game and something didn't work so we changed to Avast.
For an alternative firewall we can use Comodo.
-> But most of the protection is from simple rules like not using Internet Explorer unless there is no other choice, turning off email message previews, not opening any email that we didn't expect and so.
Also, no one I know caught the Antivirus 2008 or 2009 plague. But you see how many could get suckered into that if you read http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/08/22/anatomy_of_a_hack/print.html
So there you go. Alternatives.
We have a desktop that my router is connected to and I have a laptop. I have been paying for the ATT Security Suite which was only $5.00 a month figuring it was always current and the kids, wife, etc. use that desktop all the time.
I am the only one on my laptop and use AVG and other utility programs for maintenance and try to be more careful and save some money.
Now I have gotten my teen daughter a laptop and she needs something for sure. It will be another $9.00 with ATT (total $14.00 monthly) which will cover 2-4 computers. I know I could buy a program for that money but don't like Norton.
Is anyone confident I could scrape ATT DSL Security Suite all together and go with AVG or should I commit fully, partially?
Also, I have reviewed the forums but not seen much talk of any other reliable program other than AVG. Any other free or good priced suggestions?
