Patitioned Drive [I'm Confused]

I am slowely running out of space on my "C Drive is 74.5 and has free 23.8" owing to my large photo and Video collection. I was wondering if I could store anything in one of the other partioned drives that have space? "D Drive Backup is 68.6 and has 67.5 free "E Drive Recovery is 5.84 and has 2.02 free"
I thought I could maybe store some picture files in there till I get round to putting them onto a CD or could I store them on a DVD-RW Disc?
Thanks for any help out there from the smarter people.
Karles

I wouldn't store them on the recovery partition personally, but if you have that much free space on the backup partition, go right ahead.

And yes, that's almost exactly what blank CDs/DVDs were made for, so it's quite possible.

Thank you both to glb and yewanchors for their helpful response and I will do that today as it has worried me for some time now [loosing my photos/video clips] May I just add that I did not have a partitioned drive on my old W98 computer and this new one has that many features that I have started to explore all that's in here!!!
Thanks from KARLES

You should never have the only copy of important information, photos, music, videos or other data stored on the hard drive. Hard drives fail. I had one do just that. If that happens to you and you don't have your "stuff" saved on CDs or DVDs, they will lost. Once you save them to a portable disk, you can remove them from the hard drive and free up space.
