Path to Windows Start Menu

Jun 25, 2008 3:50PM PDT

I am trying to find out the path to a few things. I am using a program called RocketDock and trying to set the Icons Paths so they open up the start menu, volume, and etc.... Does anyone know the path to the start menu and volume control? I would appreciate any suggestions because I've typed "C:\everything\under\the\sun." and no luck so far. Thanks.

Shane

Some things are not in that directory.

While I find most things with a right click properties some are not there.

The "volume" control is a fine example as there can be replacements or they might use Windows. Here's a list of some RUN commands for such things. http://www.aeicomputertech.com/w_run_commands_wVI.php

Found a Third Party App.

This list you gave me has a lot of useful commands. But I still had to get a 3rd party App to open the start menu. Nothing I tried would open that thing. Thanks again for the info.

Download and Save

First you choose "SAVE" from the download menu and save to a location you will remember like "desktop". Then open that new folder after downloading and copy the contents of the folder to C:/Programs/RocketDock/Icons. That should do it. Then when you open RocketDock you can change the icons by right clicking the icon you want to change. Hope that helps.

The path in Windows 7 is the fallowing:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
If that can help.....at least my Rocket Dock program is working fine with the above path.
