bashing President Johnston!

Yep, there it has sat all these 40 years.

I wonder if it was a typo or if there was a comedic reason for it. Don't recall why "Johnston" would be funny.

Saw Paulsen live at the old Ice House in Pasadena a couple of times. About as unimpressive to view in standup as Woody Allen, and just as funny.

Definitely NOT a typo...

That's what he used to call him and I used to crack up every time I heard him say it. It's just funny that he mispronounced the name in that deadpan style of his.

I think he said, "Nixton" too, but my memory could be off.

A favorite Pat Paulsen line:

"America is a country in which anyone can grow up to be President...........unfortunately."

Thanks for the Paulsen update.

Probably he did say "Nixton." And, with the style, no doubt some missed it the first time they heard it - would make it funnier when you did catch it.
