Pasting photos into Word Perfect

Copying a photo of many colors I have problems pasting it to Word Perfect. When pasting it into Word Perfect I get a large black area (seems to always be on the right side) that completely obliterates half of the photo. How do I cure this?

There were numerous versions of Word Perfect. Some don't work well.

With all the missing information in your post, I'll offer that OPEN OFFICE from http://www.openoffice.org is free and doesn't have such an issue.
