Password Protection of web page

Sep 28, 2005 4:14AM PDT

Is there a really simple way to password protect a page, so when a user clicks on a link a pop-up box appears and asks for the password. If it is correct it goes through to the page, if it is incorrect it goes to the "Wrong Password Page" or something like that. Alternatively, insted of a popup, it could go to another page asking for password etc.

I assume that it would be a form password box, with a submit button. When the submit button is pressed it does some sort of "if pass=beef* go to correct.html, if not beef* go to incorrect.html"

*where beef=password

Any help? Thanks in advance!

I use Apache servers so it's very easy to control.

Extremely good value and they will let you password protect directories to restrict access to pages.

To make a good site generally you have to pay.
