Limit access to using the program, or limit access to the files made with it (documents, spreadsheets, etc)?

I password protected my MS Word document (WIN 2000) and forgot the password. How can I retrieve the password?

Thanks in advance.

Camille,

There are some brute force password cracking programs around. They try everything until they find one that fits. If your password is "secret" it's much faster then if it's is "8#!

Re: limiting access to Office

Bksalt,

Limiting access to files is the most easy thing to do. Just put them in My Documents and Settings and everybody else will not have access. By making the folder private you can even exclude administrator access.

Limiting access to programs can be done in XP Pro by changing the access rights to the executable, wherever you decide to put it.

Hope this helps.
