Password difficulty

I have belonged to cnet for several years. The other day, I tried to sign in only to find that I apparently had not changed my email. I couldn't find a means to change it, so I joined again and lost all of my tracked discussions, etc. I've been recouping from bronchitis and didn't get back until today. Some "funny" things have happened such as my online bank account didn't want to close out.... it took several seconds and then I shut down my MacBook. This sort of thing makes me very nervous. (I was previously known as "old granny lola." Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
