Does the DVD player have ports marked s/pdif or toslink/optical?
Y: check whether the amp has the same port(s) for input & connect accordingly.
N: Do you have L+R out on the DVD player?
Y: connect to a L+R input of amp (not phono).
N: does your TV have L+R output?
Y: connect to a L+R input of amp (not phono).
N: You can only use TV sound.
If you really got to the last line (nearly impossible) you should get a different DVD player.
I have a PN50A400C2D that I am trying to hook up to a HD-TWZ412 so that I can hear the tv sound through the amplifier in the dvd player. I can do a HDMI out of the dvd player to tv and get surroundsound and picture. Do I need to come out of the TV back to the amplifier with audio(fiber) or what? trdove
