"PartMgr" in device manager shows a problem

Jun 22, 2004 11:38AM PDT

Running Win XP Pro SP 1---
When I open Device Manager and view hidden devices, PartMgr has a yellow exclamation point. What is partmgr and how do I fix it?

Properties for PartMgr: Device Status---"This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"

Solution?

Did you ever find a fix for this? I have the exact same problem, running XP Pro SP2. It doesn't seem to have a negative impace on anything, but it bothers me to find device problems.

Thanks,

Scott

Are you an Outpost Firewall user?

If so, contact them for a fix. Some flame me for this, but I offer ZERO firewall support.

No, I don't have that. Thanks for the reply though!

Your post is far too light on details. For example...

" I noticed this after I ______________ to my computer."

I also found this
Dec 31, 2008 9:36PM PST

I found it after looking for another file when following the CNET forum on how to remove Antivirus 2009. When looking for TSS... I noticed the yellow ! and clicked properties, got the same notice. I am disabling it for now. I also did not have the file the other forum warned me about.

If you find I should fix and enable, let me know.
