Partitioning help needed

Oct 12, 2005 2:46PM PDT

Hi

I'm a linux newbie and this is my first posting to this forum.

I'm trying to create a dual boot on my Inspiron 8600's 40GB internal basic disk, consisting of Gentoo 2005.0 and XP home. I haven't partitioned before and am hoping you guys might be able to offer some advice.

Before the windows volume, my hard disk has a 55MB OEM primary partition (no drive letter and under FAT). I'd like to know whether I can safely delete this to reclaim the space for Linux, or whether I should I just leave it alone and use up my third primary?.

Any help appreciated.

Xandar
