Microsoft XP doesn't survive movement for one partiton to another well. You end up "installing over the top" or other repair installs.
Also, a partition "resizer" such as Partition Magic can cost as much as a new drive.
-> Here's my suggestion. Post in the Windows XP forum what software issues you are having and see if others will help you cure them.
Also, heed the red words you see with each post so others don't have to ask for OS version, machine make/model and more.

Hi There could any of you guys please help me I have a computer that has been giving me problems for a while and someone said partition the hard drive and put a fresh Windows XP pro on the new partition, move all your files across and delete the first partition. Up to now I have made a new patrtition on the hard drive with Acronis Partition Expert and when I boot my computer again it comes up with two windows the original one and the new one I installed. My question is if I delete the first partition I dont think I will be able to boot into the second partition as surely the boot system will be on the first partition, can I overcome this by adding files to the second partition before I delete the first one or not. Also does anyone have a clue what this error message is telling me. (JAVA.LANG.NOCLASSDEFFOUNDERROR:bq) Your contribution to this subject will be very much appreciated Many Thanks Tony B.
