Question

Partitioned external drive won't eject in Windows XP! Why?

Sep 18, 2011 2:56AM PDT

I just bought a LaCie 1TB USB/Firewire external drive. I'm using Windows XP at home and Macs for some classes and PCs for other classes at school. My plan was to partition the drive, one partition being FAT and the other HFS+ (Mac file system). I installed MacDisc to access the HFS partition at home to back-up my files.

Too many reasons but

XP's indexer, and the System Restore enabled on that drive rank high on my list.

Also, XP gags on other file systems. What to do but move on and nod that this old boat is leaky?

XP and Apple don't always mix

It seems there are too many ifs, ands and buts when it comes to XP usage. I also consider the large 1Tb size maybe part of the problem as it needs to settle itself before letting go, IMO. Also, noted with Apple usage, what works for one may not for the other, even thought it's suppose to. I have no explanation for that as I'm less Apple knowledgeable but see the issue when it's mentioned.
