partition of disk

Apr 8, 2005 3:30PM PDT

Hi, I am in big trouble. I tried using the 'acronis true image' to create a copy to DVD+RW but because i was unsuccessful i decided to create a separate partition on my internal hard disk and create a copy there. unfortunately my computer froze and i had to shutdown.

now, the problem is i have tried to use the acronis software to remove the partition and redistribute the 20 GB back to my C Drive, and the message on the screen tells me that it has been done and a partition no longer exists.

but thats not true because when i check my C Drive, even now it is showing only a capacity of 36 GB while in actual fact it is 56 GB.

could you please tell me where my remaining 20 GB has disappeared and how i might get to reintegrate it back into my single partition.

i have a hp pavilion zt 3000, running pentium 4, with windows xp home.

thanks a lot.

Try Acronis first.

Since you paid for it, their support should help out. Here's why. They know what their software did and may have other calls with other Compaqs that did the same.

Hundred dollar workaround.

Get a new drive (I picked up a 40 for 60 bucks) and an external drive case for your old drive (mine was 20) and get the machine back on its feet with the new drive. Save the old drive for the day you find a solution.
