Partition deleted....Help!

Jul 4, 2004 9:39PM PDT

I deleted a partition with valuable data on it accidentally through computer management. The partition is present as empty space and i have not formatted it since. I tried active partition restorer and it can detct my partition. As i am a student i cant afford to pay to use that software. Is there a freeware of similar type that can restore the complete partition in one go so that i donot have to recover it file by file.I also tried recover it all after reading another forum message of similar type but it doesnot detect my partition. I have windows XP and the partition was fat32. Please help me.

Then you pay.

You'll have to find a solution that works.

Given 20 dollar CDRW drives and media for almost free, how people end up in your predictament seems to be a side effect that most need to learn the lesson personally. That's the hard way...

Again, find a demo of some tool, then buy it.

Then you are paying.

Those who don't backup, eventually pay in some way for the not doing so.

It's a hard lesson that some do explode into a tirade of harsh words and in fact... tantrums. Its sad the people who sold you the machine in the first place don't talk about the issue, but even when I was involved with retail (owned a storefront), most didn't believe their hard disk could "forget."

As to CDRW, you have to look at internet storage, floppies or what else? I think you'll do better now that you lost it all.

You bet ya i am paying just not in the same way as I would have liked to. As for backing up through the net i have a dial-up connection running at 56kbps and the connection speeds are not too great. It would take me a month to backup onto the net moreover and i cant even imagine the phone bill i would get. Broadband is expensive and lack of finances is why i am in this rot in the first place. Floppies are not good enough as in order to back up 500mb of data i would need about 350 floppies and at 25 rupees per floppy you calculate how much that would cost. I guess if you aren't financially that well off computers aren't for you. Anyway thanks for your help mate. I owe you one if I can afford it that is :-}.
Take care.

Consider this.

Of that 500MB, what really is important?

Many don't understand that MP3 files are readily replaced and what's important are things like TERM PAPERS, LETTERS OF REFERENCE, "My Resume" and such.

Another set of important, can't lose files are my over a decade of family digital photos. I've never felt it overly costly to put such on backups. Today, here, it's 11 dollars US if you find a sale for the CDRW drive and 22 bucks if you miss the sale.

You need to understand that hard disks are temporary storage. Maybe the lesson does have to be learned the hard way?
