Question

Apr 22, 2018 5:37AM PDT

Evening everyone!Im building a pc and i need your tech knowledge. So for starters: GPU:GTX 1060 3GB CPU:AMD RYZEN 1600X MOBO:MSI B350 TOMAHAWK RAM:16GB CORSAIR VEGEANCE 3000MZ SSD 250GB CPU COOLER:CRYORIG H7 + AM4 ADAPTER I would like to know if there is any problem combining these parts together.I know that the ryzen comes without a cooler so im getting a cryorig h7 with an am4 adapter so that it can be installed.I wanna know if there will be a problem installing it on the specific motherboard. Also i would like to know if this motherboard will "read" 3000mz of the ram or will i need to upgrade the bios?and if so does the bios upgrade come with the motherboard?thanks..

Your cpu supports 2666 ram stock.

Your mobo does not support that speed stock.

You will need to use some msi tool to overclock the mobo.

Any bios update will come from the msi site.

i was told that the ryzen 5 1600x performs well with 2800-3000 ram speed. How come it supports only 2666.Also the msi forums state that the mobo does support up to 3200mz

The 2666 is the stock ram speed for the cpu.

The stock ram speed for the mobo is 2400.

If you want to use faster ram you will need to overclock.

Just fit it all together and take a look at what ram speed has been selected with bios defaults.

Run it stock for a few days and make sure it's stable.

If it is then you can start playing with ram speed.

You can use faster RAM and there is no need to overclock.

Faster RAM will run at lower speeds just fine. There can be a long discussion but think of it like tires on a car.

You can put 200 MPH tires on a car and all is fine. Put trailer (low speed) tires that are only rated for 70 and you could have trouble if you find that stretch in Montana at 80.
