Parents charged with murder after dogs kill 2-year-old son

by Mark5019 / December 15, 2005 7:29 AM PST

SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) ? A man and woman were charged with murder after their two dogs fatally mauled their 2-year-old son, who allegedly had been left alone with the dogs.
Police concluded the adults had been upstairs in the home while the boy, Jonathan Martin, was alone downstairs with a male pit bull mix and a female mix with puppies. The boy died after being bitten by the dogs Oct. 3.

A grand jury Wednesday indicted James Jonathan Martin, 29, and Heather Frango, 25, on charges of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and neglect. They were assigned defense attorneys Thursday and are being held without bond. Their arraignment was set for Jan. 5.

Suffolk Commonwealth's Attorney C. Phillips Ferguson said the murder charge was tied to the commission of another felony, the abuse and neglect.

sad that people dont think, and animals pay for it

In this case it was the 2 year old that paid.

When people do something wrong, You (mark) say

If they can't do the time, don't do the crime

If animals do something wrong

If they (the animals) can't do the time (suffer the consequences), don't do the crime. If you kill you die.

Now, I know the dogs don't realize they will die if they bite,

They also don't realize that if they bite, the object they bite will die.

Dogs probably don't even realize what it is for something to die.

They may even have been playing (using the boy as a toy)

Since the child was 2 years old, I don't think this would be the first time alone with the dogs.

the fact that this child was left alone with a litter of puppies and the mother? My thoughts were that the child was probably trying to play with them and the mother protected her pups! The parents were definetly at fault for this!

that you show empathy for animals always but not always for humans. Especially since you seem to be human yourself, even in that suit. Happy
