PARDON?...Get out of jail free?

TheRUMP pardons D'Souza then tells him to go forth and spread the word (the word according to Trump).

No checques or non-disclosure agreements will be handed out or signed....consider your Pardon to be payment in full....no need to file it as income on your tax forms...

He should rot forever in jail

given that his crime was so heinous. Can you imagine someone arranging for, not one, but for two persons to make illegal campaign donations to a senate candidate. Such a crime could forever change the safety and security of the US or bring down the entire economy. To pardon such a person might just encourage other people to repeat his dastardly crime. "Off with his head", I say.

RE:He should rot forever in jail

You would be a tough Judge....

After pleading guilty, D'Souza was sentenced to spend an eight-hour day each week in community service as part of a five-year probationary term, according to the Southern District of New York. He also had to attend weekly counseling sessions and pay a $30,000 fine.

He will probably still attend counselling sessions...but this time TheRUMP will be the instructor...

Again....pled guilty because he was

threatened with five more charges being prosecuted even though they were already thrown out by the court once...Prosecutors threatened to bring them back more aggressively. The whole idea was to totally destroy him, break him financially, and make it public enough to question his credibility in the press so others wouldn't invest in his documentary movies anymore (that hasn't worked btw). Giving him a pardon brings back his ability to vote again among other rights.

break him financially?...He was 'giving money away'...he should have thought about that before he starting giving away his wealth.

TheRUMP can't find a way to "transfer funds" so now he is giving "pardons" in lieu of money?

He plead GUILTY because he was GUILTY....NO Judge will accept a GUILTY plea UNLESS the charged party admits they were GUILTY.

Are you saying he LIED when he plead GUILTY?

In a five-page plea agreement submitted to the U.S. Attorney in 2013, D’Souza accepted the felony charges to avoid going to trial and risking imprisonment for up to five years. “The defendant hereby acknowledges that he has accepted this Agreement and decided to plead guilty,” his lawyers wrote and D’Souza signed, “because he is in fact guilty.”

It wasn’t just legal jargon either. D’Souza owned up in court telling prosecutors that he knew making campaign contributions under someone else’s name “was wrong and something the law forbids.

Pleading guilty means 'is guilty', unless

a confession was beaten out of him, as in despotic places like Russia, N Korea, Chicago and like that.
I think what happened here was a plea bargain, a tried and true [and legal] manoeuvre by prosecutors and defense attorneys.
If I'm right, then most of what you and your cotillion partner are dancing around is irrelevant. Never mind that now.
Next time you tee up with the President, can you ask him what he's doing about our meth problem here in the rurals aka the heartland?

It figuratively actually WAS a 'beat down'

However, since JP seems so upset over this particular pardon over $20K, and the 'message' theory liberals are accusing him of, let's walk down memory lane and take a look at all of the REALLY controversial pardons given by Bill Clinton to some REALLY bad hombres, not to mention BO's pardon of Manning as HE was walking out the door....and no liberal out there wants to be reminded of bad THAT dudette was.

RE:It figuratively actually WAS a 'beat down'

I think it was more of a "wrist slap"

8 hours a week of community service?

His "sentence" was a PARDON.

D'Souza be double dippin'...2 PARDONS?

The prosecutor U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara

who has been forced out of office was going for a full 16 month jail term.....then threatened more charges if he didn't plead to one felony, which he did. The judge in the case believed that even the 16 months was too harsh since others prosecuted for the same crime have rarely if ever done time for it...they were fined instead. The BO admin went after D'Souza because of his movie and criticism of BO, just as BO used his IRS to target Tea Party organizations. Remember BO's own words...."punish your enemies and reward your friends"?

RE:pardon of Manning as HE was walking out the door.

Is TheRUMP "walking out the door"?

- Collapse -
You missed the point that Bill

pardoned his buddy Rich as HE was walking out the door, too.....

And GWB refused to pardon Libby even after proof he was innocent was brought to light.

- Collapse -
And the pattern remained

Do everything as you leave so you don't have to answer any questions about it... BO not only pardoned Manning, but he also instructed via EO all of the agencies to share information across the board about the investigation they were doing against Trump....which will ultimately be the downfall of the whole thing because the only way to keep a secret is to have as few as possible knowing about it. If the American people have anything to say about it, there will be a large number of BO's secret society/coup begging for pardons themselves at some point.

RE:Do everything as you leave so
Do everything as you leave so you don't have to answer any questions about it...

Give out favours /PARDONS early so YOUR administration can reap the benefits of YOUR grandiose gestures. They are beholding to you...AND your administration.

Anyone that does anything to help you get elected, they get a pardon...such as putting more money in your kitty....they get a pardon.

another option is....make wild claims all through your administration, right from the git go, the wilder the better and refuse to talk about them when questioned.

Sounds like the game plan of TheRUMP.

Do you honestly believe that

Dems Martha and Blago are going to donate to Trump? She didn't before why would she now? Everything is a conspiracy theory with you when it comes to Trump, even while proof of a REAL conspiracy is coming at you in waves from the BO admin and the LIAR campaign......

RE:Do you honestly believe that
Do you honestly believe that Dems Martha and Blago are going to donate to Trump?

Since they went to jail while someone other that TheRUMP was POTUS?

More likely than they will donate to the Dems, considering they probably blame the Dems for them being in jail...never mind the fact they were GUILTY.

thrown out by the court once?..."thrown out" = found innocent? sent back to the drawing board? they brought the same charges again?...

more aggressively?....entirely different charges?

RE:so others wouldn't invest in his documentary movies anymore (that hasn't worked btw).

Good for him...you wouldn't happen to have any links to his recent works would you?

Are you OK with the thousands

of felons that my crap VA governor gave pardons to just before the presidential election that allowed them to get back their voting rights in time to vote for the LIAR? Do you think there was a non-disclosure statement that they had to sign saying they would or they didn't get the pardon?

Well, IF I was put in prison under HIS watch he'd have to do a lot more than give me the right to vote to win MY vote.

How bout you...he sends you to prison then after you get out...he says...OK you can have the right to vote. He's got your vote?

Never mind not being able to vote as a convicted felon...WHY should they be able to receive Social Security....

Social Security Benefits

Individuals released from incarceration may be eligible for Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability benefits if you have worked or paid into Social Security enough years

Does that mean they shouldn't get $ back

for $ in? I'm afraid you've lost me there. Unless it was listed as a proper penalty for the the crime, as jail time was. SSA was put into law by men and can be modified by men. And felons won't get to vote on the proposal. Good enough for you? No? Then quitcherbellyachin'.
Anyway, as I saw on a crime fiction show recently, about a case mishandled by the police, "What we want is justice. What we get is the law." [Child killer walked.]
Perfect justice is a major topic in a book about religion and ethics. You'll never read it. Sad

Life vs. fiction.

Ponder this one, oh ye of kneejerk decisions.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/tenn-man-sent-back-to-prison-after-release-worthy-of-a-second-chance/ar-AAykWGs
Read the whole story first.
In case anyone is interested in Jehovah's view, it's in perfect justice. That means the man gets his final sentence in future; no way I can guess it.
Jehovah doesn't imprision. His way is life or death ... contrary to popular belief and long-standing traditions. Through John the baptist, we learn that there's an opportunity for redemption ... only while alive, contrary to popular belief and long-standing traditions ... to "produce fruit that befits repentance". Mt 3:7,8 The two years' clean certainly befits that description to me, but not necessarily to the "judge of the whole earth".
OTOH the original judge's statement is well thought. 'I made a mistake by law [in releasing early]', he said; didn't mention justice.
The DA's point is valid also.
Each person who, unlike us, has a stake in the situation has a valid view.
Jehovah reads the heart.

PardonPalooza 1999

They're pardoning people like its 1999 and big Billy C from Arkansas is back in the House...
It is politics. What did you expect?? Trump owns hotels and casinos in New Jersey and Las Vegas. He is not a saint but he is not the trashiest either.
At least Trump is not pardoning Coke heads, coke dealers and banksters.
Just my 2 cents...

Presidential pardons...list
https://www.infoplease.com/history-and-government/us-presidents/presidential-pardons As you can see from the next link of commutations granted by BO, his PARDONS number is actually 212, not the 64 shown in the first link.

These were all done three days before he walked out the door, including an additional 64 pardons...and the list is just chock full of really, really bad dudes.

RE:TRUMP arranged that meeting? Are you SURE?

I didn't say "arranged"

So what is going to be your line of attack?

Are you going to claim TRUMP did not do all the arranging by himself?

Are you going to argue the difference between arranged and arranging?

You stated

"He's arranging meetings with Putin and Kim...." Perhaps you SHOULD have said "Trump has arranged meetings with Putin and himself and Kim and himself" instead of making it appear as if he had a hand in the meeting that Putin DID have with Kim. That would have at least made your statement more clear.

I notice today that Kim and Assad are ALSO arranging a meeting....perhaps Assad will be asking Kim to donate his various weapons to Syria as he gets rid of them?
