Why update?
I don't see any reason to do this in your post. If it works, let it stand.
As to the link to the zip/update file, I can't get there either. It appears to be offline.

Hi I am using a Dell 4300 with WXPSP2, (each Tech request by email is $9. by phone its 19. cant afford it so please help) my problem is two fold.#1 every time I try to do a update (I have done repair, un-install and reinstall)(there is a service pack 1 that I need the only way to get it is download from the program update) I get the message "Ether you are not connected to the INTERNET (I am on cable always on" or the Update Service service are currently unavailable have been getting this since I installed over 2 weeks, I went to there KB this is what I found In order to allow the product to check for updates, please follow the steps below:
(Go to "Start > Settings > Control Panel".
Open ?Program Updates?.
Select the ?Update Settings? tab.
Put a check-mark next to ?xxx? and select ?OK?.
Note: Replace "xxx" with the specific Scan-Soft Product (Ex. Paper Port 10).I can not find Program Updates on my Control Panel,but it is checked in the program itself PP10
Updates for the Scan Soft product will now be allowed by the Install-Shield Update Manager.
Note: The Install-Shield Update Manager is not included with any Scan-Soft product, but is downloaded from the Install-Shield website. To un-install the Update Manager utility, download the remover from Installshield's website.)
