Question

paper management Epson Stylus 1400

Jul 9, 2014 8:58AM PDT

Simple question: where has Windows 7 hidden the setup to allow for paper choice of photo paper for this printer. It is back in Windows 8.1

I didn't find that in "Windows" but in Epson's driver.

Tell more detail. Such as if you checked Epson for drivers, if Epson didn't supply or more.

There are a few printers, mostly older ones that printer makers drop support and just leave it to what Microsoft supplies which is minimal. I find folk that learn this often explode over this area.

paper-management Epson Stylus 1400
Jul 10, 2014 7:04AM PDT

I cannot find a specific driver listed for Epson Stylus Photo 1400 after undating driver list.
I am using driver "ESC/P-R" which shows itself as the driver for the 1400.
Printer is 4 years old and worked perfectly with XP.
There is no caption available to choose photo quality paper which is the main reason for having this printer.
I will refrain from any "comment" about this "upgraded" OS.

Still can't tell if you went to Epson.com and got the driver

Found download from Epson Canada
Jul 11, 2014 5:01AM PDT

Thank you. I revisited epson Canada and found the stand alone driver. Several pages tried to sell me a $29.95 CD.
Printer is working and "management" is happy.

Yes, I am not a Microsoft "upgrade" fan. I started with the original DOS and don't understand why they made some of their "improvements". I have made my views about 8.1 and Outloo 2013 know on another forum.

Thanks again.

Glad to read that.

At the office we banned 8 for a time. But as time rolled on and this forum shared the really nice thing called CLASSIC SHELL we were able to open the doors to 8.

In fact, I'm not going back to Windows 7 now. It's that good.
