Question

Pantum P2200W series Monochrome Laser Printer

Apr 20, 2020 5:24AM PDT

Hi, I hadn't used the printer for a while and when I tried to print from my laptop it is showing as error state.
Does anyone have any tips please, I can't find the CD rom for it, but I do have the printer cable.
When I try to print my laptop printer settings just say error,
The printer driver program is in the C drive.
.
The folders show; wifi tools, x64 and then there are .chm xtensions and .cat extensions.
When I click on the folder x64 there is a Driver folder. Inside the driver folder there are .dll extensions, pt2500Duplex.exe and a pt2500uis.exe.
Can anyone help further please?

.chm is the help file. It should open if you double click it. See if there is help about solving errors.
And, if you didn't print or save the user manual, see if you can download it from the makers site.

The documents don't make much sense, do you have any simple tips for me?

If the manual and the help file don't help, because they don't make much sense to you, it seems all you can do is:
1. Find someone that understands them.
2. Buy a new toner cartridge. It might help, but just as well you're just throwing away your money.
3. Bring it to the shop you bought it from and see of they can help you.
4. Buy another printer.
That's simple enough?

Thanks for your reply, but I can't find someone as we are in lock down, I cant take it to a shop as there is no where open, the toner cartridge costs £40 so I am wary to buy it.
Once again, thanks for your response anyway Happy

Answer
Pantum still has support, even now.

https://global.pantum.com/global/drive_tag/drive/ has the manuals plus Skype and other support. Often I find that folk omit that they are looking for free support or a cheap fix. The cheap fix could be a new black/white laser printer as this looks years old and new ones here are usually well under 99USD. Any service counter or shipping costs more here so these are never repaired.

Not really helpful but it is fine

1. I contacted Pantum, got very little response, on the chatbot on the website, they just sent me a link and didn't explain anything.
2. I was looking for free support, is that not what this forum is for? I must have been mistaken, I do apologize, (I also explained my personal situation).
3. I bought the printer in 2016 from Amazon UK, that is not years old,
When our UK retailers/computer repair shops, re-open I will speak to them.
Have a nice day!

2016 is years old.

I see consumer grade printers and even commercial units fail and need service at 2 and more years. This can really upset those that want a lot more years.

Check the user manual for any mention of a SELF TEST where the printer prints on its own without the need of a computer. The printer must be able to do that or game over.

As to support here, we try but at some point when the product needs repair or the user can't get it going, it goes to the shop or gets replaced.
Due to very low cost of black/white laser printers here, they never go to the shop which can really irk some folk that expected cheap or free repairs.
