Does anyone have any suggestions on the picture settings for the TH-50PX50U plasma TV?

If you have a DVD player go buy/rent/netflix "The Incredibles" or "Monsters Inc" which both have "THX Optimizer" in the menu and select "video". The steps there will help you fine tune the 50". I have a Panny TH50PX25UP and this helped although the complete optimization requires "THX" glasses which I beleive to be 3D glasses that help seperate the colors so you can fine tune each one individually although I have not got these glasses yet to test thtis theory.

Good luck

Will this also work for the 42PHD8UK or only for the 50" size screen?

Hi,
I have the Incredibles dvd. But I am having a hard time with the video adjustments. I have the Pan 50U. Where is the contrast in the Panny menu?? Is it the picture setting? I bought the tv from Circuit City and it comes with its own calibration dvd. It uses a little see through blue film (I think this is what you mean when you say 3D glasses) to calibrate the tint. That is fairly easy. But the sharpness and contrast tests are difficult to understand. The brightness test is easy. Any help? I want this TV to be running at its optimum ability thanks.

Sorry it took me a while to reply.

The THX optimizer will work for all shapes and sizes of Plasmas, and I am not sure why it wouldn't work for all HI-Def sets as it's just a display of true colors and picture tuning. I beleive contrast is "picture" in the Panny menu. I think the contrast was "picture" and "brightness" all in one on older sets but you will notice even CRT's as old as 5 years old started using "brightness" and "picture" in there menus giving the user a broader range of tunability. If you remember on old CRT's when the picture started going bad you would crank up the contrast to see the picture and squeeze the last years out of you set but that was all you could do and thaqt would really make for a crappy picture. Now you can adjust "brightness" without giving up "picture". Pretty cool huh?

Well I'm pretty bummed I did not get the handy blue film with my Incredibles DVD. Is it possible to tell me if it is the same tint as the stuff you can get at the craft stores? That is the only thing holding me from finishing the tuning. Also did a strip of RED fil not also come with the DVD. This is why I figured 3D glasses would do the trick as the tint has to match the movies RED and BLUES. Hmmmmm.

Hi, If you want, I can mail you my blue strip. I am done with it. It appears to be the same color blue as a crafts store would have. But, like I said, if you want, I can send it to you. A red strip did not come with the DVD. But, I have ordered Digital Video Essentials, and I think that it comes with three different color strips. The only thing I haven't been able to adjust is the contrast (probably the most important thing, figures). I use the Picture setting, but the test doesn't work. Take care.

You can get a pair of the THX glasses for $2. I got them from the THX site and I think shipping was free, but I'm not positive.

Scootah, I appreciate the offer I'll check your profile for your email address and send you my address or you can give me your e-mail address here. My email is tomriverson@yahoo.com.

Tyba: I asked someone about getting them at the THX site and was told they weren't there. Guess I should've checked for myself. If I can get the strip from Scootah and buy a set of glasses I will check to see if they are the same as well as a sample from the craft store for future replies as well our for our info here.

Thanks again!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
