Panasonic taking aim at Canon G8

Panasonic just announced a challenge to Canon's G8 digital camera.

The Canon G8 is Canon's top of the line non-DSLR camera.

The new Panasonic DMC-LX3 has a few unique features:
A very bright f/2.0 lens with a 24mm focal length and 2.5X zoom.
10.1 megapixels mounted on a large CCD base to reduce noise from crosstalk.
Hot-shoe that can also be used to mount an optional optical viewfinder.
Jpg and RAW
Manual controls - Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Program AE, Full Manual
High Definition Video through optional Component type cable to your HD television.

Here are the details:

love what they did

You know how many people who do photography yell when they see the new model out with high megapixels? I really like what the specs say about it and could push Canon and others to follow suit if it sells well. Seems like they are doing the right thing, and I hope this turns out to be a great camera. We'll have to wait and see.

That new panasonic looks nice, but I still love the feel of the Canon G9. I wish I could afford one. I recently bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ18 and I love it, but I would like to have a second camera for really fast shots.
