In this forum the advice is to give it a whack to the palm of your hand. This is in the realm of "it's busted so how could you think you would break it" ideas.
Given the cost of repair, why not?
As to the ON switch, nice idea but why not act on that?

I've got a Panasonic PV-GS31 that suddenly stopped working. I've got 2 freshly charged batteries but the ON indicator light, the LCD, or anything else won't turn on with either battery. I can operate the tape ejection mechanism, so there seems to be juice in the batteries. Could it be a bad ON switch? Any other ideas?
