You may want to check out the Sony HC96.
Has much better low light than the GS180.
Any mini-dv with firewire can transfer full quality video to a computer. The only time you lose anything is if you use USB or your computer is not up to the task.
I've looked everywhere for reviews on this camera and would like to hear from anyone who has used the camera...
Here is my needs for a camera from a prev posting (ya I want everything and I'm just a poor student)
-I need a camcorder that takes reasonable stills and doesn't lose a lot of video quality after it has been transferred to PC and then opened in macromedia or adobe for editing and I have read the article already on dvd v. mini dv which is kind of confusing on this issue.
-it needs to have average or above average low light performance
-good video picture quality
-a memory stick
-10x to 20x zoom
-I might use it as a web cam
-don't care if its easy to use at all
-medium range battery life, not fussy
