Panasonic PV DV 702 problem

Mar 21, 2006 1:09PM PST

My mini-DV Panasonic PV DV-702 has lost any ability to record or do playback. The tape appears to be slightly ''eaten'' and is sometimes pulled out of the cassette a bit when I eject it. Initally when this happened, when I attempted to record, the camera seems to be recording but stops after few seconds. But now there is no response to the record or play button. After I insert the mini DV tape, the noise is unusual and different from when it was working properly. No messages appear on the LCD but I notice the red LED power indicator is flashing 2 times rapidly....never noticed that before. The camera has been well treated and stored properly in between uses since I bought it 3 years ago so I'm not sure why it would suddenly cease to work properly. Any ideas or previous experience with this would be appreciated.
