Panasonic Plasma 42'' ED

Aug 17, 2005 4:22AM PDT

I am considering buying a ED plasma from Panasonic and wanted to see if anyone has had a bad experience reliability-wise from owning one (or has heard of one). From everything I have read online, the Panasonic plasmas are supposed to be solid, but I have heard conflicting opinions in the stores I have visited.

Also, I have concerns about the location where the plasma would be. I live in San Diego about two miles from the bay and was wondering if the salt water would negatively impact the cabling or the set itself (the plasma would be about two feet from a window that I keep open the majority of the time). The plasma would also be in between two large stereo speakers. I know that with a normal tube TV there can be "magnetized" issues, does anyone know if plasmas can be magnetized? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Panasonic Plasma 42'' ED

In 1994 I bought a top of the line compaq computer (75mgh, 8 mb ram, 75 mb hd for $3000.00)
ED is pretty well doomed from my perspective.
Think of where you will be 5 years from now.
I bought a cheap hdtv that I'm not really pleased with, but sometimes I am astounded! I think tv in the 21st century is expensive, and like gasoline is not really gonna go down...........

I Have the TH-42PWD5 and like it

I bought the above model in 2002. I bought it because HD was just getting started. If you are using just a regular cable feed or satelite then the picture is better with the non HD version. The HD version shows every imperfection from your cables trashy feed. If you get the HD channels, then go with the HD version b/c it won't be long before all the channels will be there.

As for the Plasma TV itself, I couldn't be happier with Panasonic's quality. It's the best out there to this day.Picture is second to none.

Best of luck,
