of a miniDV tape based camcorder. To get the video from the camcorder to a computer, I would use a firewire cable (not USB) to connect the camcorder's DV port (not USB) to the computer's firewire port (not USB).
In this context, Firewire, DV, IEEE1394 and i.LINK are all the same thing.
If your computer does not have a firewire port, hopefully it has an available expansion slot to add one.
With the camcorder connected to the computer as indicated and the camcorder in Play mode, launch the video editor - Windows is bundled with MovieMaker. Capture the video (under the "File" command line item).
Once the video is in the video editor, do what you want with it - editing-wise. When complete, Save As a high quality AVI or WMV. DVD Maker should also be bundled with Windows 7. It can take the exported video project and do what is needed for you to create a DVD than can be played back in a regular DVD player.
The software included in the box with the camcorder is useless.
There was no firewire cable in the box with the camcorder... likely just a USB cable.
To start with, I am an old woman (feels like it some days)I hope you will be able to point me in the right direction, as I am getting very frustrated.
I had this camcorder for a while now. The software it came packaged with is called Motion DVD Studio 5.3 ELE 4DV
I have a duel core computer. Loaded with Windows7. I have never been able to upload any software updates from Panasonic for this, even when I had Windows XP loaded on this computer.
Now I can't load the software at all. Panasonic is not helpful at all.
Could you please recommend some software for me? I know Adobe is the best possible software. It is also extremely intimidating.
Short and sweet........... I need some software for idiots I can use to edit the DVD. Without paying a fortune for it.
PLEASE HELP
