Yep, I saw it
by Dan Filice / July 21, 2006 2:26 PM PDT

I saw it earlier this year at the NAB (Nat'l Association of Broadcasters) convention in Vegas. It was stunning! I figured this TV would be THE thing to end a marriage of this was the plan. I would hope that for the $60 grand, it would come with a snack bar!

i'd just imagine the manufactorer cost on the item. usually theres around 40+% of margin. "so yea, i'll give you $20,000 off this tv if you want to buy it today". or "i'll throw in a free car"

by RoadRunner6 / July 21, 2006 7:43 PM PDT

.....Stewie doesn't like plasmas!

Also, if I buy one I'll only have about $475 left for a 5.1 sound system.

For 70k...
by sirroundsound / July 23, 2006 6:17 AM PDT

I'm sure it's more of a case of being able to say we can build it, and for a select few, to say we own one.
But for 70k I can give a client a great 100 - 120inch screen with a fantastic picture. And I won't have to figure out how to get it into the house, let alone get the 6 people it would take to hang it on a wall.
Imagine the service nightmare if it failed.

It's much like years ago when proscan came out with the 80" big screen TV. 500lbs and it wouldn't go through a door while in the box. We had to charge 500.00 more on our delivery so we could take it apart and make it managable. I am sure they sold some (we sold 3)but it was more trouble than it was worth.
