panasonic mini DV..push the reset switch

Apr 10, 2010 3:00AM PDT

I have a Panasonic PV-GS9 mini DV camcorder. Some time ago, the message 'push the reset switch' began to come on the screen. when I do so, the same message comes again. Nothing else functions..menu, recording, playback, etc
Has anyone experienced anything similar and /or has anyone a solution to fix the problem?

I had same exact problem. Fixed it this way...

Tried reset button repeatedly... no luck!

Then I hit open/tape switch and completely removed tape and replaced same tape. Works fine now!

I think that its because it hasn't been used in such a long time, maybe tape got stuck because of moisture/ heat/ no use. Probably a good idea now to find out if a camera shop can blow it out and lightly lube it with proper silicone? maybe? or at least they can tell me how to do same.

Good luck!

short lived

Well well, that was short-lived. After recharging the battery, she's slipped back into reset remission. I don't seem to get out of it again..

Have you figured out what to do to fix the problem? Mine is doing the same thing.

I solved it

I had the same problem with my Panasonic mini-DV. After recharging the battery and removing and replacing the tape, it seemed to work. But I fixed the problem permanently. I bought a new Canon mini-DV camcorder.
