Question

Panasonic Lumix GX7 Flash Help Needed

Dec 7, 2013 11:02AM PST

Hi! I just got a Panasonic Lumix GX7 yesterday. I did a few indoor test shots and the little built-in flash worked fine. However, today I cannot get it to work. It will pop up but won't fire and also on the set-up menu, "flash" is grayed out. I cannot even select "flash" to look at the settings. The manual has been no help.

You probably have inadvertently set something that is causing the problem.

Do a Factory Reset!

All I can find on the Internet is the Basic Manual.
I don't find what I was looking for in that Manual.
If you have the complete Manual look for a Menu setting that will let you reset the camera to factory settings.

Most camera manuals have it on the setup Menu.

Silent / Electonic shutter disable flash

You've set the shutter to silent mode aka electronic shutter mode. Silent shutter cannot work with flash, but I admit I don't know why it can't.

Thanks for the assistance

Thanks so much for your response. I had the same problem shooting some Christmas activity with the shutter on silent. I felt it was a bit dark, so I raised the flash which did not fire. I reviewed the photos and many were blurry due to low light conditions. Just pulled out the camera to see if your response was the problem. Silent shutter = no flash. I turned off the silencing feature and the flash fired just fine.
Thanks again!!
