Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5S

Sep 3, 2005 4:20AM PDT

What can you tell me about it?

I was thinking of the Canon Powershot S2 IS, but this seems to receive equal reviews and has a lot of the same features.

There's just one feature that I know that the S2 IS has, but am not sure about on the DMC-FZ5S.

I heard about a continuous shooting feature, that takes two pictures per second and continues shooting until you run out of memory or you let up on the shutter button. (Not bad, considering my current Kodak CX7300 only allows you to take three pictures in rapid succession).

Does anyone know if the Lumix has that same feature? Thanks.

Continuous Shooting is available on the FZ5S but there are limitations.

Read about it here:

Check out the 6th paragraph.

Panasonic has announced the new FZ30.
It is 8 megapixel and has continuous shooting.

You can read the press release here:

..........................

All of the cameras with continuous shooting will benefit from using a faster memory card. Something like the SanDisk Ultra II.

FZ5 is a great choice
Sep 5, 2005 1:28PM PDT

I researched both of these cameras thoroughly and they are both excellent. I finally chose the FZ5 for the following reasons: compact size for a 12x; Leica lens; ease of use; battery life; image quality and PRICE. I paid $382.00 one month ago. It is even less now. Check out www.buydig.com or www.6ave.com (they only charge .06 for shipping!) Both are reliable. I just decided that the FZ5 gives you more bang for the buck, and the S2SI was about $100.00 more and not worth it when you consider that the features and quality of both cameras are about equal. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. I spent much of today shooting with the FZ5 and the photos are spectacular. Highly recommended!

I just purchased one from Dell for $338 before shipping. They have great discount codes available if you do a search.

It's a great camera for the money, I've been shooting Film SLRs for a long time and thought I'd try to change over but couldn't swallow the 700-1200 it would take to get into digital SLR.
