Panasonic KX-TG9471 Problem

Aug 11, 2014 1:11AM PDT

We are using this phone with the Outlook Telephone Plug In. For some strange reason, every so often the plug-in will stop working. When I open Outlook I'll get an error message: "Device (TG947x) is not connected". Also, when that is occurring, if I close Outlook, then begin a Windows Shutdown, it says I have to FORCE CLOSE Outlook.

On 8/1/2014, I uninstalled the Telephone Plug-In that came with the phone on CD and installed a newer version from Panasonic's website, supposedly version 1.0.3.0. This lasted a week and now the problem has re-occurred. It is a Dell Computer, running Windows 7 and Outlook 2007.

When this error occurs, if I do a System Restore to the clean restore point I made after the uninstall/reinstall, it all functions properly, once again.

Can anyone help isolate this problem and why I am getting it and what can be done so the problem does not continue to re-occur?

On the web, complaints about this

Some claim it only works with Outlook 2010 and with all the over reaching antivirus suites blocking things for privacy and more, well, let's hope you find a solution. I recall my run-ins with Outlook and it's sync in the past where I had to force close it years ago. As we moved away from Windows Mobile that issue vanished. Odd but glad it's gone.
Good luck,

I tried a Google Search

before posting here, but didn't find any results with this problem.

The book and their support staff say it should work with Outlook 2007 just fine. And it does, but something seems to "break" and then it won't work, and a System Restore gets it working again. But we're trying to find a solution that will not involve doing a System Restore every week or so.

I suppose if the problem recurs again I could uninstall his Outlook 2007 and load Outlook 2010 and see if it is better behaved.

I also was thinking to have him unplug the USB then re plug it back in, see if that makes any difference.

And a few other places. But beware, no one claimed it was trouble free. And we know that Windows problems seem to only be getting worse as security suites over reach and block this or that. Many change or filter email features and it blows apart at the seams.

I wonder if Panasonic should have not used an add on. I would have offered a standalone app to sync on demand. This by design would cause a lot of support calls, returns, etc.

Problems with KX-TG9471 also
Oct 23, 2014 7:12AM PDT
I have used this phone system with Outlook 2014 all summer and last week it suddenly quit working with Outlook 2014. I even bought and installed Outlook 2010 today because it quit working with my Outlook 2014 and was told by Panasonic it never should have worked with 2014. I still can't get it to work even after installing 2010. So frustrating because I liked having the caller's details pop up to refresh my memory before speaking with them. When I called Panasonic to find out what I was doing wrong, the guy told me It must be something wrong with my phone. I switched phones with another phone just like it here in the office and it didn't work right, either. So disappointing.

New Version of Panasonic Sync 1.0.4.0

Hello.

I was having the same problem as you. I'm actually using Outlook 2016 with Windows 10 now. If you go to this page: http://panasonic.net/pcc/support/tel/tg947.html you will be able to download the latest software plugin that will work with Panasonic and you'll be able to use it again! Let me know if that works!
