panasonic hdctm700 can't import video

Feb 28, 2011 5:36AM PST

I have a new panasonic hdc-tm700. Tested it out before my vacation and was able to record video and import video through hd writer. Post-vacation, I have 5 hours of video on it and have just spent all afternoon trying to import with no success.

Problems are:
1. HD writer smart wizard won't start when I connect camcorder to PC

2. When camcorder is connected to PC I can't open HD writer by clicking on the icon or going into programs

3. Can't safely disconnect camcorder either by clicking on the little button on bottom right

I'm so frustrated I could cry. I've get a gaming computer so it should be fine, and was fine before when I connected the camcorder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My computer keeps locking up and I have to keep restarting it every time I try to do anything with the camcorder.

Melissa

I have bought my tm700 last year, and I didn't come across that problem. HD Writer worked fine for importing videos when i connected camcorder to PC. I was wondered whether you have turned on your camcorder when it was connected. If it was not a problem, you can try this camcorder assistant software-Final Mate i searched from goole, which also provides smart camcorder wizard for quickly and easily importing files from TM700. Hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply. The problem was that the card in the camcorder had become corrupt. I sent it off to have the videos recovered, but haven't gotten it back yet. I didn't format the card in the camcorder first, and apparently this should be done to avoid card corruption problems like I had.

Do you prefer Final Mate to HD Writer? Just curious how they differ.

Thanks,
Melissa
