Panasonic HDC-HS9

are these files compatible with mac, AVCHD format.
it came with a pinnacle system software that seem to work fine with my pc, it was a trial version. i connected to my mac but only the jpg files came up and my avchd files did not.

my mac isnt a dual core system, does that matter.

do i need to update my mac or go pc
