Panasonic HD Camcorder Software

by Willard Morton / July 8, 2010 2:32 AM PDT

The software (HD Writer AE 1.5) that came with my Panasonic HD camcorder crashes my computer when I am playing back a video. (It buzzes and then black screen.) So I can not play or edit my video. Panasonic tells me that it is because I have a 64 bit computer. (New HP e9200Z tower with 6GB RAM,640GB hard drive, Windows 7, and 512MB Nvidia video card.)

Does anyone know of a fix? What about other software?

I did not find a fix. So I am not using the Panasonic software. Instead I am using the free Picasa software. It is very upsetting that Panasonic has not updated their software to be used with the current operating system.

Hey, i like this sofware. With higher resolution, broader color space, and advanced compression algorithms have opened the door for a substantial improvement in video quality even for the most prosaic of home movies.

I liked the software too except it kept shutting down my computer -- which I will not accept. So I don't use it anymore.

This sounds familiar.

The symptom is just like a few I fixed last few months. It was either this or that.

This: The usual driver issues.
That: Heat. HD editing and playback can stress the machine in new ways.

Sadly you will find folk that can't accept this. They might visit repair counters and part with a lot of cash or time when this is usually this or that.
