So it's likely to be a failed board or sensor. This 2011 camcorder might be more to repair than other Canon models at https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/photo/172421/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_photo_1_2_last
Get estimates but my advice is to replace given repair prices I've seen.
The other day, in the middle of recording, my camcorder (Panasonic HC-V700) stopped recording video/photos. It still records the audio. LCD works as usual with the menu, but shows only black for the image, and records as much (lots of solid pitch-black with sounds).
Have tried a reset (only resets the menu!), and taken out the battery for a while. Did no good. Any clues what's wrong with it, if there's anything else I can try myself, and what sort of an operation the repair would be? Thanks very much!
