Panasonic DV-PV400D

I am trying to record from my Palmcorder onto a DVD using a Pioneer DVR which keeps telling me that there is no DV camcorder connected despite the fact that it is connected on the front panel. Under the recording instructions it says to "set the camcorder to VTR mode". I can't find a VTR mode option anywhere. Is this why the DVR is not recognizing my camcorder?

Try anything that is Video out or VCR.

Hook it directly up to the TV to see if it is producing a signal in the other modes.

Due to copyright issues or language, some makers exchange VTR for VCR etc...

Good suggestion!

Everything is fine directly through the TV. I wonder if certain camcorders just aren't compatible with this DVR?

My now dead RCA/Toshiba could not sync up with any video capture so I had to record it on the VCR than play that back to the capture devices.

Not unheard of and experienced first hand. It was out of warranty when I discovered this flaw.
