panasonic av-100: anyone familiar with, used one, own one?

May 2, 2005 1:14PM PDT

I am interested in purchasing a camcorder, primarily for shooting shorter videos of my son to send to far away family and for arciving with the hundreds of digital pictures we have. Recording length is not a huge issue. I would like to find something easily portable and convenient to use (the best camcorder is the one you have with you when you need it, right?), and that will allow me to share the videos easily, especially via email. It seems like the av-100 might fit the bill perfectly, and I like the idea of recoding to an sd card, but I know virtually nothing about it. I have read a lot of the posts here (which have been very helpful) and have done quite a bit research, and had just about convinced myself that the Sony DVD403 was the one for me, but now I am having second thoughts. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
