Panasonic 50 inch Plasma vs Pioneer 50 inch Plasma

Jul 1, 2005 11:38AM PDT

Hi all:
I am still in my quest to find the best plasma tv. Does anyone have any experience with the Panasonic (TH-50PX50U) vs the Pioneer (PDP5050HD). I was just at my local Best Buys and I saw both head to head. It seems that the pioneer has a smoother image but the panasonic's resolution and image quality is better? I am leaning towards the panasonic based on picture quality. Anyone has any experience w/ this?

Any help is much appreciated!

I checked out plasma, d.l.p. and l.c.d sets and when I asked about the old 3 gun rear project units I was told they were old technogoly, Then I talked to technissions and that changed my thinking anyway I bought a Sony kp-wv600 for only $2500 and the picture is stunning also there is no pixel efect and black level is awsome I dont believe Sony makes this model but they make one thats in a 57" size Also remember that if your expensive plasma poops out it cannot be repaired but with my 3 tube set the tubes cost $200 each this set will go out of convergence but you can adjust it once a month with the remote control easy but whatever set you buy make sure you use d.v.i. or h.d.m.i cables to your t.v. for a stunning picture please reply would like to hear from you answer under stewart norrie

Great Idea w/ the 3 gun projectors, but I am rather limited in the amount of space i have in my basement. I was just comparing the panasonic vs the pioneer, and notice the panasonic is alot brighter and has a sharper picture. The Pioneer has a smoother picture and a more blended in feel. I saw in some of the other forums stating that the plasma screen is the same as the pioneer elite line... I think I am going for the pioneer based on this... Just my two cents..

Just to let you know, Pioneer has a $700.00 rebate on some Plasma's. ie: Pioneer PDP5050HD is one.
